Introduction 

Angular 6 is a JavaScript framework for building web applications and apps in JavaScript, html, and TypeScript. Typescript is a super-set of JavaScript.

Angular provides built-in features for animation, http service, and controls which in turn has features such as auto-complete, navigation, toolbar, menus, etc.

Code written in TypeScript are compiled into JavaScript and executed at browser.

Differences between Angular 2 to Angular 6
  1. Angular 2 to 6 are almost same except performance tuning and few apis.
  2. Angular 4 introduces else block with *ngif.
  3. Angular 5 is released in November 2017.
  4. Angular 5 provides lambda expression
  5. Angular 6 is released in February 2018.

Follows MVC architecture.

Follows Component based architecture. Component is a basic building block of Angular 2.

Installation and Configuration

In order to install Angular 2-6 you need following packages:

  1. NodeJS : Node.js development environment can be setup in Windows, Mac, Linux and Solaris.
  2. NPM : Node Package Manager is included in Node.js installation
  3. Angular CLI
  4. IDE for writing code

Install Node JS

You can download and install node JS from https://nodejs.org

After installation you can verify Node JS installation by opening command prompt and run command:

C:\test> node –v

It will print the version of installed Node environment.

Install Angular 6

You can run following command to install Angular CLI v 6.0.0.

>npm install -g @angular/cli

After installation you can check version of Angular by running the following command:

>ng version
